The Qatar News in around 60 Seconds – Monday 22nd June 2020

It’s Monday 22nd of June, this is the news in 60 seconds

We’re a bit low on local news this morning, but I’m sure I can fill 60 seconds for you.

HMC Lab capacity for daily COVID-19 tests to reach 30,000 a day, by the end of July. That’s an increase of 10,000 per day from the current 20,000 per day.

The Shura panel studies draft law on media activities and journalism.

The Shura councils joint committee comprising

Legal Legistative Afairs and Cultural and Information Affairs Committees. Met on Sunday to examine a draft law regulating journalism, publishing, media activities and arts.

Hmmm… lets hope they don’t regulate social media news reviewers.

The Centara West Bay, to open two restaurants on July 1st. Offering contactless dining.

Following a rigorous training program, the hotel is introducing social distancing of 2 meters between tables and chairs. And they have done away with self-service buffets.

I’m looking forward to giving it a try myself in a just couple of weeks time.

Now, let’s take a quick look at the numbers for yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 881 new positive cases. Nice to see it drop below 1,000 for the first time in ages. 1,556 recoveries and I’m very sad to say, 4 deaths.

Active cases are now 18,952 meaning a decrease of a massive 881 in the previous 24hrs period.

That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
