Qatar starts easing some of its COVID-19 restrictions. And this news is so good, I will bet you’ve already heard about it.
Firstly the number of people in cars goes up from 2 to 4 including the driver. And clarification that families are exempt from number restrictions in cars anyway.
Private sector employees can now work between the hours of 7am and 8pm instead of 7am to 1pm. And with the exception of malls, shops can now also open 7am until 8pm.
And the last amendment announced yesterday is the ability to carry out sports, without the necessity to only exercise near your home. And also you can now exercise without a mask. But you still have to avoid crowding and keep a safe distance of 3 meters.
And this got a lot of people excited, especially golfers. So many in fact, that Education City Golf Club had to put out a statement saying that unfortunately there has been no directive allowing them to reopen the courses yet.
The Planning and Statistics Authority say that traffic violations have dropped by 62%. Traffic accidents have dropped by approximately 40%. And 88% of traffic accidents were light injuries. However 6 deaths were recorded. The total number of new cars registered in April was 2,535 a monthly decrease of 41%.
And the PSA also say that the Qatar population has increased from 2.772 million to 2.805 million – With the stay at home policies in place I wonder what that number will be in 9 months time.
Hammad Medical Corporation say that patients with chest pain must seek urgent help. Trust me, I have 999 on speed dial and if ever I get chest pains. I’m pressing it.
The weather is going to be Very Hot, windy and dusty today says the Met department
And the Gulf Times think that you will be so interested in the beautification of three roundabouts in the Old Airport Area. They have put it on their front page.
Let’s take a quick look at the numbers for yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 1,901 new positive cases. 1,506 recoveries and unfortunately 2 fatalities.
Active cases are now 24,573 meaning an increase of 393.
That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
