The Cabinet supports the Qatar Olympic Committee’s bid to host the Olympics. Saying that Qatar is qualified to host one of the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the first time in the Middle East. As early as 2032.

Saudi appeals the World Trade Organization’s decision, on it being complacent about the pirate TV station BeOutQ. Originally Saudi said the decision vindicated them, and they were genuinely pleased with the outcome. But now they are attempting to appeal it.

Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce said “If Saudi Arabia had been ‘Vindicated’ and was genuinely ‘pleased with the outcome’, there would be nothing for it to appeal”. Demonstrating that Saudi Arabia fully understands that it lost the case.

Qatar Fund for Development or QFFD, on behalf of the State of Qatar, has sent a shipment of urgent medical aid to South Sudan to support their efforts in containing the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Horticultural Expo originally due to take place in Doha in 2021 has been pushed back to October 2023 because of the COVID-19 crisis. During an emergency meeting at the International Association of Horticultural Producers it was decided to recommend postponing the event which is themed ‘Green Desert, Better Environment’.

The Ministry of Public Health has announced that it is to operate a lab to tackle pandemics. The National Reference Laboratory will begin operations from August 2020.

Now here’s a quick COVID update

Active cases have gone up by 25 people.  Bringing the active cases to 3,135 in the last 24 hour period.

Back at the beginning of July 22% of active cases were recovering. Now only 10% of active cases are recovering.

Which is why, even though new infections are really low, at a 7 day average of just 7.21% of those tested. The active cases have begun to rise again.
