It’s Friday 10th of July, this is the news in 60 seconds
I’m getting requests from Qatar residents stuck in India, for information about flights back here.
So I chatted with my good friend Aji in Magic Tours yesterday on the subject. And he advised ‘Returning from India is still a challenge. Pls dont book anything for the time being’.
Now on to todays front pages that are absolutely packed with interesting news.
The Gulf Times lead with; Total recoveries nearing 100,000 as Qatar makes steady progress.
And New Emergency medical center opens in Industrial Area. Hamad Medical Corporation yesterday announced the soft opening of the Industrial Area Satellite Emergency Department or I.A.S.E.D as it is to become known. And there are plans to open a similar one in Ras Lafan.
On to the Peninsula, and they lead with Surging exports cement Ruwais Port’s position in Qatar’s growth. Then they have some Covid figures, but I’ll cover those at the end. They also cover the new HMC health facility in the Industrial Area.
And there’s a New Drive to remove thousands of abandoned cars in the Industrial area.
The Qatar Tribune headline the Hamad Medical Corporation’s launch of the new Industrial Area Satellite Emergency Department.
And HMC have stories in all 3 news papers saying that ‘PCR is the standard test for COVID-19’. The item goes on to describe the swab process and explains that this test is very accurate. Then they say that another test; The rapid serological test, which is carried out using a finger prick a little like a diabetes test. Is very fast, but less accurate than the PCR test.
The use of rapid serological tests must follow the clinical protocols and guidelines. And should be done by clinical and trained staff. It is not recommended to be used by public.
And they finish with the Campaign to remove abandoned cars in the Industrial Area.
Before moving on to yesterdays figures. If anyone is interested in supporting Qatar Quick by becoming a voluntary patron. Now here’s a quick look yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 557 new positive cases….. 1,165 recoveries and I’m very sad to say, 4 deaths.
For one reason or another the handout no longer gives information on the number of active cases. So, we’ve calculated this figure from the information they’ve shared. Yesterday there were 5,308 active cases so with today’s adjustments that means active cases have now dropped to 4,696. Meaning a decrease of 612 in the previous 24hr period.
And this means our prediction remains the same. The graph is still indicating, that we should have less than 1,000 active cases of covid-19 by July 24th. Which is brilliant.
That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
