The Qatar News in around 60 Seconds – Saturday 27th June 2020

It’s Saturday 27th of June, this is the news in 60 seconds

Ehteraz app makes moving around Qatar more secure in COVID times. But my question is; are people so afraid of loosing their green status, not just for them but for family and co-workers as well. That they may decide not to seek help if they fall ill?

Qatar’s livestock sector unaffected by COVID impact. A number of barn owners have said that animal feed, green and dry, both local and imported are available. And precautions restricting the movement between barns by employees and strict adherence to other precautionary measures has meant that there have been no issues with livestock.

The Peninsula’s lead story is one I covered on Thursday. Stating that registration with the National Address database is not only a legal requirement, carrying a fine of 10,000 Riyals for noncompliance. But also a requirement to undertake other government transactions. You have until July 26th to register.

Ashghal completes 50% of work on the Mesaimeer Outfall Tunnel.

The tunnel will carry surface water from rain, 10km off shore and then defuse it into the sea. This protect the shoreline from rain water carrying surface debris and contaminents, into it.

The tunnel which is one of the longest outfall tunnels in the world, began work back in November 2017. And is expected to be completed at the end of next year.

Now, let’s take a quick look at the numbers for yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 946 new positive cases. 1,528 recoveries and I’m very sad to say, 3 deaths.

Active cases are now 16,603 meaning a decrease of a very respectable 585 in the previous 24hrs period.

That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
