After 2 months of walking 6km a day, my knee has suddenly decided to ruin my daily ritual.
I’m so angry right now. I have had issues with my knee since being a teenager. However I needed to get those daily paces up to contribute to my recent fitness drive.
I thought I had got past the point of picking up an injury while walking because I had built up to 6km a day without issue.
Then yesterday following an excellent mall walk while listening to ‘The Power of Regret’ by Daniel Pink, I was in the kitchen prepping some food. Turned to get something, and boom! Something in my knee shifted and mega OUCH!!
Since then any lateral knee movement produces instant, intense, actually insane, pain. I’ve also got a little bit of a click that has simultaneously emerged in my knee.
Keep my knee straight and I can walk pain free. Lose concentration for a moment, and BOOM! There she goes again. My knee support could be helping a bit, but I’m not sure how much.
I’m going to rest my knee today, and tomorrow I may attempt a highly focused on keeping my leg straight 3km at a slower pace.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
