It’s Tuesday 16th of June, this is the news in 60 seconds
The Education City Stadium nick named the Diamond in the Desert got it’s official launch, digitally last night. This is the 3rd World Cup stadium to be completed, and it is the first World Cup stadium to achieve a five-star sustainability rating.
During his launch speech, the Amir thanked health care workers and said “As the world begins to open up, it is through your courage, dedication and sincerity that we truly believe in better days to come, the days when we will enjoy together watching the stars of the game in our stadiums”
Outdoor working hours during summer began yesterday. Prohibiting outdoor work between the hours of 11:30am and 3pm. And stipulating that work should not exceed 5 hours in the morning.
Mosques, malls and parks reopen in the first phase of the relaxing of restrictions. And the Gulf Times has some great images of people enjoying their exercise. Including children. Which are still prohibited form entering some parks. But obviously not all.
And more good news. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, in a previously unannounced move, decided to open up Al Bidda park for exercise as well.
But we cannot become complacent, and ‘Human Behaviour is the key to containing the virus as curbs ease’. With a warning from a top Hammad Medical Corporation specialist, saying that “We must continue to follow protective measures”.
A message that still doesn’t seem to have reached everybody, as this photograph shows a man wearing a facemask incorrectly.
And in this image, this gentleman doesn’t seem to be wearing a mask at all.
On that note, let’s take a quick look at the numbers for yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 1,274 new positive cases. 1,783 recoveries and I’m very sad to say, 3 deaths.
Active cases are now 22,119 meaning a decrease of 512 in the previous 24hrs period.
That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
