It’s Monday 8th of June, this is the news in 60 seconds
Ehteraz can now be used without a Qatar ID number. The latest version of the App, available from June 6th on Android’s Play Store, can accept visa numbers as well as QID’s.
With the deadline for registering on the National Address Database just a few weeks away. The Ministry of the Interior has announced that residents abroad will be exempted from penalties because they were unable to return to Qatar. Hmmm… presumably they were stuck in a country without internet because that’s how I did mine.
Qatar achieves miraculous progress in food security. And this article has some interesting figures in it. Like in just 2 years Qatar’s self sufficiency in dairy products increased from 27% to 106% and poultry went from 49% to 123%. So we now have surplice available to export as well. Oh and the Global Food Security Index published in December 2019, placed Qatar 13th in the table. And that’s ahead of countries like Denmark, Belgium, France and the UK.
Over 300 die in Qatar annually due to tobacco-caused diseases. Can someone good in math’s please run that number through a calculator for me. Because as things stand I believe that would be more deaths per month than COVID-19 here.
Air travel to become more expensive post-pandemic.
And Hotel Park takes part in World Environment Day by planting trees.
Let’s take a quick look at the numbers for yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 1,595 new positive cases. 1,811 recoveries and unfortunately 3 fatalities.
Active cases are now 24,398 meaning a decrease of 219 in the last 24hrs
That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
