The Qatar News in around 60 Seconds – Monday 6th July 2020

It’s Monday 6th of July, this is the news in 60 seconds

Lets start with the Gulf Times front page today. 9 Contracts worth 3.6 Billion Riyals signed for citizen’s land plots development.

Qatar Chamber launches online platform for recruiting laid-off staff.

5,000 expected to attend Public Private Partnership conference on Tuesday.

And Berlin welcomes Qatar Airways back.

Now on to the Qatar Tribune. Who also lead with Ashghal signs 3.6 Billion Riyal contracts for development of citizens’ land plots. The project will serve 5,111 plots and Qatari companies are to implement all projects.

Citizens’ land projects are top priority says the Prime Minister.

Qatar Airways resumes flights to Berlin.

And the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs begins second phase inspection of workers’ housing.

And we finish with the Peninsula’s front page which headlines Ashghal to implement 9 major development projects. Ashghal will continue working at the same pace and commitment to complete all infrastructure projects’ sub-divisions as per plans, despite the current global economic crisis.

The 9 new projects, starting in Q3, 2020, will see development of roads, parking lots, sewerage and drainage networks at a total cost of around 3.6 Billion Riyals. They will serve more than 5,111 land plots in different areas.

The projects will provide about 281km of roads, over 10,350 lighting poles, and more than 15,800 car parks, in addition to 684km of sewerage and drainage networks.

Interior Ministry launches ‘My Address’ service for public.

Over 92,000 recover from COVID-19

Qatar Chamber to help companies hire skilled labor locally.

And Katara to hold the 4th International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition in October.

Here’s a quick run through yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 616 new positive cases. An enormous 1,897 recoveries and I’m very sad to say, 5 deaths.

Active cases have now dropped to 7,387 meaning a decrease of 1,286 in the previous 24hr period.

Having accepted criticism for yesterday’s hypothetical and bold statement based on 7 day averages. We have now analysed the actual data. And Qatar Quick predicts that we should have less than 1,000 active covid-19 cases by July 24th. Lets see.

That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
