It’s Friday the 3rd of July, this is the news in 60 seconds
A slow news day is not uncommon on weekends, and today I can’t find very much that will interest you. So lets just go through the three English medium newspapers. And see what’s on their front pages.
Starting with the Qatar Tribune. Qatar and Turkey pledge to strengthen relations in economic, investment, energy and defense fields.
There’s a sharp rise in online traffic transactions using the Metrash 2 App. Well that’s not really a surprise because the physical offices have been closed.
COVID-19 restrictions can be re-imposed if indicators are affected adversely. So behave all of you. And follow the precautionary measures, to ensure we don’t have any of our toy’s taken away again.
Qatar Airways unveils protective kits for fliers & cabin crew. That’s brilliant. I really hope they bring back a packet of nuts to go with it though.
Now on to the Peninsula. Which also features the meeting between the Amir and the Turkish president discussing strategic relations.
Qatar is proud of it’s exceptional achievements in fighting COVID-19. Qatar has been able to maintain one of the lowest mortality rates in the world, with a total of 118 deaths recorded so far, and it has been witnessing a noticeable decrease in the number of cases reported on a daily basis. Yes it has indeed, and we’ll take a closer look that at the end of todays news review.
Ministry warns against calls promising fake scholarships. Those pesky scammers are up to no good again.
And finally, on to the Gulf Times, which also leads with the Amir, Erdogan meeting. Saying that Qatar and Turkey are discussing ways to enhance co-operation.
And the two countries witnessing development at all levels.
They also have the Qatar records exceptional achievement in COVID fight story.
And then there is a bit of international news that I don’t go into in a Qatar news review.
Now, let’s take a quick look at the numbers for yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 894 new positive cases. An awesome 2,632 recoveries and I’m sad to say, 3 deaths.
Active cases have now dropped to 11,182 meaning a whopping decrease of 1,741 in the previous 24hr period. The average reduction over the last 7 days is -857 cases per day. If that average continues, we would have no active COVID-19 cases by July 16th. Wouldn’t that be nice.
That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
